The League Management Company has signed a broadcast partnership deal with the Nigeria Television Authority for live transmission of Nigeria Professional Football League games.

Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko, and Director General, National Television Authority, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed were present at the partnership signing ceremony at the NTA headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

The means, with the new partnership, offers NTA exclusive rights to beam more matches, which begins with a final day live coverage of El Kanemi Warriors, MFM match in Maiduguri.

During the contract signing, Dikko said the partnership is aimed at having more games on television as part of a move to improve the league’s standards and attracting more sponsors.

“We are trying to form a production company that can be able to have the capacity to produce all the Nigeria Professional Football League matches and other activities,” said Dikko.

“We are partnering NTA because they have the platform, the equipment, and the capacity, which we will be upgraded. Our training partners abroad will be part of the production to make sure most of our football matches in the country will be live.

“Today, it is the production we are trying to resolve At the end of the day, we will have a lot of contents that we will be available to be sold across all the platforms in the world.

“Luckily, we are having NTA that will be in Maiduguri to cover one of the title deciders in the final day match between El Kanemi Warriors and MFM live on TV.

“We will also have SuperSports in Jos for the game between Plateau United and Enugu Rangers. We will have an exciting final match day for football fans in Nigeria that has not happen in a long time.

“The agreement is in preparation for next season. Our objective is to have more games covered live on TV which can be put on any platform that is ready to work with us. We are thinking of having two, three games on TV, but we may end of having up to 10 matches on TV.

“Once matches are live on TV, everybody must now sit up to do the right thing. Officiating will improve, the organisation will be better and stadia will get face-lift. Basically, about eighty percent of the problems we have in the league can be resolved by the massive step we took today.

“There will be more matches for Nigerians to watch across the various platforms – on mobile, social media and TV.”

On his part, Director General, National Television Authority, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, said: “We are happy to enter into a partnership with the LMC to beam the Nigeria Professional Football League matches live.
