2017 CCC: Rivers United get FUS Rabat, Club Africain and Kampala in group phase

Nigeria’s only club remaining in continental championships, Rivers United was yesterday drawn alongside FUS Rabat of Morocco, Tunisian side Club Africain and Kampala CCA from Uganda in Group A of the Confederation Cup group stages.

In a draw held on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, South African side, Platinum Stars will battle MC Alger from Algeria, Mbabane Swallows from Swaziland and Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in group B.

Zambia’s Zesco United will contend with Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo, Sudanese side Al-Hilal Al- Ubayyid and Egypt’s Smouha in Group C.

Reigning champions TP Mazembe will face SuperSport United of South Africa, Guinea’s Horoya AC and Gabonese contenders CF Mounana in Group D.

The group stage for the continental competitions begins with Matchday 1 on the weekend of 12-14 May and wraps up with Matchday 6 on the weekend of 7-9 July.
