Gov Wada procures nomination form for reelection

A high court in Lokoja, Kogi state has halted the judicial commission of inquiry instituted by the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello to probe his predecessors, Idris Wada and Ibrahim Idris.

The commission of inquiry was to probe both Wada and Ibrahim Idris but the court barred it from further sitting and ruled that the parties to the issue maintain status quo pending the determination of the motion seeking an injunction to restrain it.

The Leadership reports that Wada had filed an application for injunction to restrain the commission of inquiry from further sitting pending the determination of the substantive suit.

In his ruling on the application for adjournment brought by the attorney-general of the state, Mohammed Ibrahim, who announced his appearance for Governor Yahaya Bello, Justice Henry Olusuyi, said the parties should go back to the situation before the commencement of hostilities.

The report said at the resumed hearing of the suit filed by Wada to challenge the constitution of the panel, Governor Bello’s counsel pleaded for a short adjournment to enable him file his reply and counter affidavit to the application by the plaintiff.

But counsel to Wada, Chief Chris Uche, objected with an argument that he was out of time to make such pleadings.

The judge however adjourned the sitting to December 15, 2016 to enable the respondents file their papers.

Recall that some years ago, a court had issued perpetual injunction against any attempt to probe former governor of Rivers state, Peter Odili.
