Fortuna Dusseldorf defender Leon Balogunis expected to begin light training as he is hoping to join the Super Eagles when preparations for the World Cup begin.

The defender who recently dropped his crutches following an injury secured in his Nigeria debut against Mexico last month also said that he is making speedy recovery.

“As I speak with you, I just came back from the gym and it didn’t just start I have been going through the routine and should be doing bike next week, but all the medics have said is that I should take it a step at a time,” Balogun said in a release by the national team’s media officer.

“Hopefully I should be doing ‘Cross Trainer’ next week, which should prepare me for physical running in two weeks time, but I have removed all encumbrances on my toe and walk freely,” he concluded.
