Man dies searching for his girlfriend

When he arrived, his girlfriend was not there but instead he found the man he believed was with her.

Four suspects aged between 19 and 30 were arrested by Kagiso police at Kagiso Extension 12 after receiving a complaint of mob justice.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says the police rushed to the scene on 10 July and found three wounded men on the street surrounded by a group of people.

“One man was bleeding from his mouth and nose.”

Sibiya says this man allegedly went to Extension 12 where he believed his girlfriend was being kept against her will.

He says when the man arrived, his girlfriend was not there but instead he found the man he believed was with his girlfriend and an argument ensued.

“The deceaseds friend tried to stop them but three unknown men appeared and allegedly attacked the man as he was trying to flee.”

In self defence the man allegedly assaulted two men with an unknown object whereby the men retaliated and stabbed him from behind.

“The man sustained stab wounds to his back and was rushed to hospital together with the two unknown men.”

Sibiya says that the man died on arrival at the hospital. The other two men were treated and later detained at the Kagiso Police Station.

“Four suspects are being detained and a case docket of murder was opened. They will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.”
