League action resumes this weekend as the remaining half of the Nigeria Women Premier League takes centre stage with Match Day 10 after a two-week break.

Contrary to reports emanating from some section of the media stating that clubs in the NWPL are planning on boycotting the league games due to some unsettled issues in the league, champions Rivers Angels will be on the road, away to Capital City Doves this Saturday.

The Port Harcourt side had an amazing first stanza where they topped group B with 20 points from eight matches, winning 6 of the matches with 2 draws.

The concluding half of the NWPL will definitely be a tough one for the Edwin Okon led side who have five games on the road and 3 will be at home.

In spite of the task ahead, Team Manager of Rivers Angels, Mrs Matilda Michael Oyiloha is confident her side will still finish as group B winners.

“I am quite aware of the task ahead but am pretty sure my girls will put in their best to deliver and at the end of the day, we’ll finish top of the group,” she told the club’s media.

Asked if she thinks her side will maintain their unbeaten run in the second half of the season, she said; “That will be a difficult one judging from the fact that we have more games away from home but am still trusting the coaches to tell the players what to do on the field of play,” she enthused.

The reverse fixture of this weekend’s game was a walkover as Capital City Doves failed to honour the game which was the last of the first stanza.
