NPFL 2016: Nigerian Referees Assure Stakeholders, Fans Of Quality Officiating

Ahead of commencement of the 2015/16 Premier League, the Nigerian Referees Association, NRA, has assured stakeholders and football fans of best officiating in the new season.

A statement made available to newsmen by the National Publicity Secretary, NPS, of the NRA, Sir Kelechi Mejuobi, noted that compliance to the rules of the game and that of the competition will be the watchword of referees this season.

According to the statement, the NRA President, Tade Azeez stated that apart from being fair and firm in the course of discharging their duties, referees in the Premier League will surpass last season’s successes adding that pre-season build ups have been concluded to put the match officials in proper shape for the task ahead.

Tade said that based on the high level Fitness Tests and Seminars on Laws of the Game, organised for the match officials, his members are turbo charged for the task ahead.

The NRA President further noted that supports from the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and the LMC entail that referees will give nothing than perfect performances when hostilities commence this weekend.

Tade however enjoyed clubs and their supporters to imbibe the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship adding that the NFF Referees Committee and NRA will frown at any referee who acts in a manner judged to be in contrast to the rules guiding the round leather game and the Premier League.

While disclosing that the fine performances refereees showcased last season will be a child’s play compared to what to expect this season, Tade solicited for the cooperation of all interested partakers for the growth of the domestic league.
