NYG2013: Imo girls dedicate victory to God, Benue girls weep

Imo female handball team players yesterday dedicated their victory in the finals of the National Youth Games to God.NYG

The duo of Uchechi Onyeehere and Ahamefula Chinemerem who piloted their side to 14-10 victory against their Benue counterpart said though the game was not an easy one, they give the glory to God for making it possible.

According to Onyeehere, they played as a team with determination and they are happy that God was on their side hence their victory is dedicated to God.

“I know I am a star and now number one in handball in the Youth Games in Nigeria, I am very happy for my State, and the Nation given us the opportunity to showcase our talents and above all I give God the glory.

I have learnt a lot from this competition, I see a bright future for myself in handball,” she said.

On her part,Chinemerem said though they were scared of the Benue team because as they lost to them in the group stage, she is so delighted that they won the final match.

“We played well because we were favoured by God and I pray God helps me to do better than what I did in this competition for a brighter future,”she added.

Meanwhile it was rain of tears for the Benue girls as they all broke down shortly after the game.

Vaatia Kumawuese who played well in the match said she is sad that they were beaten in the finals by a team they defeated at the group stage.

She added that her target is to play at the bigger stage and hope the opportunity comes soon.
