FC Robo Queens came from behind to defeat Sunshine Queens 3-1 in a week seven clash at the Legacy Astro Turf on Wednesday.
Onyebuchi Ihuoma opened the scoring against the run of play for the visitors but Robo got themselves back into the game on the hour mark through Rasheedat Ajibade’s close-range finish.
The Lagos-based side found another breakthrough with Esther Ndubuisi doubling the hosts lead three minutes later, while Monday Gift added the third for Emmanuel Osahon’s girls.
After a slow start, it was Sunshine, who were looking for their third league win of the season, who had the best chance of the opening 25 minutes as Ihuoma’s shot went inches over the crossbar.
Ihuoma eventually silenced the home fans against the run of play late in the first half. In the 60th minute, Robo finally clicked into gear.
The ball fell to Ajibade, who slotted it past the goalkeeper to grab her fourth goal of the season. It did not take long for Robo to be in control of the clash, with Ndubuisi lurking at the right place to score for them.
Robo wrapped up their encounter through Gift, who showed predatory instinct to place the ball in the net in the 85th minute.
