Kogi United crumbled to a 2-0 defeat against Yobe Desert Stars in a Nigeria National League Week Six clash on Saturday.

Goals from Mohammed Dajibir and Abdullahi Usman ensured the hosts silenced Tunde Abdulrahman’s men to climb to the summit of the Northern Conference table.

Dajibir managed to get behind the defence line of the Confluence and wasted no time to fire the Yobe side in front at the closing stages of the first half.

Exactly 15 minutes into the second half, Usman doubled the lead for the hosts when he headed home Adamu Danjuma’s corner to condemned the visitors to their second defeat on a bounce.

The defeats see Kogi United drop to the ninth position with six points – seven behind leaders and opponents Yobe Desert Stars. They face Kwara United in their next league encounter at the Confluence Stadium.
