2013 FIFA Beach Soccer WC: Africa’s 2nd Representative, Senegal,Bundled Out

African champion Senegal and the continent’s second flag-bearer was Sunday (Monday in Africa) bundled out of the ongoing 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup finals in Tahiti, after losing its second match 3-8 to Brazil in Group C.

After beating Ukraine 5-4 in their opening game 18 Sept., the Senegalese team fell apart and lost the next two games.

In their second match, Iran prevailed 5-3 against Senegal before Sunday’s 8-3 debacle against Brazil, which left the Africans at the bottom of the table with three points and minus 6 goals.

On Sunday, the Brazilians had the greater percentage of ball possession (60% to Senegal’s 40%) in a match in which the Africans had one player sent off on a second yellow card offence.

Earlier Sunday, the other African team, Cote d’Ivoire, was also eliminated from Group D after falling 3-4 to Japan.
