2014 AWC: Super Falcons arrive in Namibia for African Women Championship

Nigeria’s senior women national team landed safely in Windhoek on Thursday for their campaign to reclaim the continental glory in the 9thedition of the African Women Championship in Namibia.

The Super Falcons had departed the country abroad at 10pm on Wednesday night to South Africa from Lagos and arrived in Windhoek after been airborne for about 7-hour on Thursday morning.

The Nigerian delegation of 21 players and 10 officials spent an hour from Abuja to Lagos, before boarding a South African airline to Johannesburg and later arrived in the host’s capital city.

The six-time African title winners are the fifth country to arrive in Windhoek ahead of the eight-nation women international championship which kicks-off on Saturday, October 11, 2014

Nigeria is drawn alongside hosts Namibia, Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia in Group A.

The Super Falcons will begin their campaign for the seventh African title against Cote d’Ivoire on October 11 at 7pm Nigerian time.

The Women Championship will have the three-finalist secure an automatic qualification for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
