2015 Polls: Fear, anxiety among Oyo residents, politicians

Reports from Ibadan has that today’s presidential and National Assembly elections triggered anxiety and fear of the unknown among politicians and electorate in Oyo State.

If what was observed in the last couple of days is anything to go by, virtually all agencies concerned with the elections are fully prepared.

As at yesterday, INEC officials still met to fine-tune strategies to ensure a successful conduct of today’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

This is aside the fact that the office had organised trainings for both the permanent and ad-hoc staff to be engaged for the elections.

The state police Commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Katsina and his counterpart in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Adebayo.

Ayeni had held series of security seminars and sessions with their officers and men over the election, while also mapping out strategies for the exercise.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone 11, Ikemefuna Okoye, was also in Ibadan on Monday where he reiterated the readiness of the police in the zone to give adequate protection to the electorate, election materials, electoral officers and other stakeholders in today’s elections.
