Mejedi urged the voters to cast their votes and stay to protect those votes until everything is counted and announced, saying that it would enhance the credibility of the elections.

He stressed that the electorates must see elections as avenue to exercise their ‘power of votes’ to elect the right candidates of their choice, irrespective of their political parties.

He said “voters should vote candidates based on their past records, performance and integrity, and not political party.”

The traditional ruler also reiterated the need for the electorates not to be enticed by money or material things to sell their votes, because of the future generations.

“I am appealing to the youth not to allow themselves to be used or lured into any violence by some corrupt politicians who have their own children abroad.

“The youth are the leaders of tomorrow and they must resist violence of any kind.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must also be seen to be truly independent by conducting free and fair elections that will be adjudged credible by the international communities,” he stated.

Mejedi further advised political stakeholders and leaders at all levels to eschew unruly behaviour and utterances that could heat up the polity.
