2020 Abuja Beach Soccer Tournament: FCT FA boss Mohammed rewards players after Kwara victory

FCT FA chairman Adam Mouktar Mohammed has rewarded the players and officials of the FCT Beach Soccer team following their triumph over Kwara in their second outing in the Abuja Beach Soccer tournament at the Jabi Lake, Abuja on Saturday.

Having brushed aside Badagry Beach Soccer Club 9-4 in their Friday’s opener, the FCT team maintained their run of form in the competition, with a 10-5 win over Kwara Beach Soccer Club 10-5 on Saturday evening.

The Abuja side secured their lead in the third minutes of the game courtesy of penalty conceded by Kwara before Jibril Adam doubled the advantage with a powerful strike from a free-kick few minutes later.

Boosted by the support of their home fans, the rampant FCT boys never took their foot off the pedal as they grabbed the third and fourth goal to earn a comfortable lead at the end of the first period in the contest.

At the restart of the encounter, Kwara was awarded a penalty and they made no mistake to launch a comeback, reducing the tally to 4-1 but the ruthless Abuja side netted four times to open an 8-1 lead before the close of the second period.

In the third and final period, FCT made another bright start unlike their second, scoring twice to increase the tally to 10-1 but rejuvenated Ilorin boys hit four times in their fightback to ensure a 10-5 result.

Mohammed, who watched from start to finish of the encounter, was delighted with the fighting spirit and performance of the players and rewarded them with a hundred thousand naira.

While promising more, the FCT will look to claim the title when they face their closest rivals Kebbi in a title-deciding clash of the tournament at the Jabi Lake, Abuja on Sunday evening.
