AK 47 Riffles, 4000 rounds of ammunition found in School in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command says it has recovered AK 47 riffles and about 4000 rounds of ammunition concealed in the ceiling of a classroom of a Secondary School in the state.

Commissioner of Police Adeyemi Samuel Oguyemilesi, who briefed Journalists in his office at the state Command Headquarters in Lokoja, disclosed that scores of canisters of Improvised Explosive Devise (IED were also found concealed in a bag at the Government Secondary School Adavi in the Central Senatorial District of Kogi state.

He said as investigation commenced to ascertain the source of IED, a middle aged man who was found with eight detonator cables in the area had been arrested as a suspect and was still being grilled by the CID and Anti Bomb squard of the Command.

The Police Commissioner also revealed that armed robbery menace in Lokoja and other urban centres in the state had been drastically reduced while high way robbery was being confronted headlong by men of Special anti robbery squad in collaboration with the army and other relevant security outfits.

Ogunjemilusi explained that if the high way robbery persisted, the Police would not hesitate to use helicopter to flush out the bandits.

On the cattle breeders and farmers conflicts over damage of crops, the Police Chief announced that a committee headed by the state Governor Capt. Idris Wada with the Commissioner of Police, Traditional rulers and Fulani leaders as members had been working round the clock to ensure peaceful co existence among farmers and herdsmen.
