The Kogi Confluence beach soccer team coach, Adama Audu Ejor, has said that his players will make a statement at the 2013 CBN Beach Soccer Cup in Abuja.

The eight-team tournament will hold from September 20 to September 22 in Abuja.

The Kogi-born tactician, who is also the Super Sand Eagles coach, said Wednesday in Lokoja that 12 players had been pencilled down to represent the great people of Kogi in the tournament.

“We are planning to be in Abuja on Thursday, and we have called 12 players for the competition.

“We will ensure that we make the loving Governor of Kogi, Captain Wada, happy with a statement and strike fear in the minds of our opponents.

“We are determined and the players are in good shape,” Ejor said.

He said the team would rely on some core of the national team players at the 2013 CBN Beach Soccer Cup when it begins its campaign and would not underrate any team.

“We will not underrate any team for we aware of the threat they will pose to our ambition.

“So, it will be to our peril if we decide to rely on our pedigree, we intend to give our best,” Ejor said.

The Kogi Confluence Beach Soccer team will travel to Abuja on Thursday for the championship. The Coach Adamu Audu Ejor-tutored team will leave the capital city by 9am on Thursday after three weeks of serious training for the explosive three-day event.

The team will count on the experience of the Nigeria Beach Soccer team to lead the way, including Owibeseb midfielder, Badmus Babatunde, who is also the captain, Emeka Ogbonna, Olalekan Oladepo and 2011 Copa Lagos Golden boot winner, Victor Tale Shenene.

Meanwhile, Oladipo Olalekan, Emeka Ogbonna, Victor Tale, Adufu Abutu, Babatunde Badmus, Emmanuel Owhoferia, Ayo Akin Aina, Taiwo Ibrahim, Jerome Shilobah, Iko James, Nicholas Ohiemi, and Dada Bello will all make the trip.
