Buhari Appoints Gambari As New Chief of Staff

President Buhari appoints Prof Ibrahim Gambari As New Chief of Staff following the demise of Abba Kyari.

He was a former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari has been appointed the new Chief of Staff to the President.

The new Chief of Staff will resume work at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday Gambari, who was Buhari’s Foreign Minister and confidant as military Head of State in the 1980s, met with the President at about 8am on Tuesday at the State House, Abuja.

Gambari, from Kwara State was the Minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985. A professor of repute and a global citizen, the 78-year-old replaces former Chief of Staff, late Abba Kyari.

Prof. Gambari served meritoriously in the United Nations as Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Africa between 1999 and 2005.

He is a global citizen whose scholarly works are also recognized both home and abroad. He is the pioneer Chancellor of the Kwara State University.
