The Nigeria Football Federation has changed the venue of the African U17 Championship qualifier second round second leg tie between the Golden Eaglets and Les Leopards of Democratic Republic of Congo from Calabar to Abeokuta.

The NFF decided to move the Eaglets to Abeokuta from their usual home ground Calabar because of the ongoing work on the UJ Esuene Stadium which won’t be completed before the second leg cracker slated for the weekend of August 1-3,2013.

Golden Eaglets arrived the country after beating Congo 1-0 over the weekend on Monday and since have resumed training ahead of the return leg in Nigeria.

In a press release signed by the team’s media officer Morakinyo Abodunrin and made available to Goal, the Eaglets have exuded confidence that the choice of Abeokuta’s MKO Abiola Stadium would propel them to victory in the second leg after the lone goal win in Kinshasa.

“We have no problem playing here in Abeokuta inspite of the fact that our fans in Calabar would miss us,”said Prince Udofia, the team coordinator.

“In fact we are grateful to the Ogun State Football Association led by Alhaji Ganiu Majekodunmi who has ensured that all is well since our arrival here.”
