Deposed Malian President greets President-elect Keita

Ousted Malian President Amadou Toumani Toure, who currently lives in Dakar, Senegal, has congratulated Mali’s President-elect Ibrahim Boubacar Keita on his election.

‘I wish to express my most sincere and heartfelt congratulations (to you) on the trust our fellow countrymen have placed in you,’ Mr. Toure wrote in a congratulatory letter he sent to Mr. Keita.

‘I also wish you success, (good) health for yourself as well as prosperity for Mali under your leadership,’ the former president said.

He expressed the conviction that Mr. Keita’s experience would be a valuable quality to enable Mali to face the challenge of national reconciliation and reconstruction.

Since he was ousted from power on 22 March 2012 by a military junta led by Capt. Amadou Haya Sanogo, Mr. Toure has been living in the Senegalese capital.
