Fifa president Infantino, scribe Samoura arrive in Abuja for Nigeria visit

Fifa President Gianni Infantino has landed in the country’s capital city, Abuja on Sunday evening ahead of his two-day working visit to Nigeria.

His visit to Nigeria is his first official appearance in Africa since he was elected as the new Fifa president on February 29, replacing Sepp Blatter.He arrived in company of his Secretary General,

Ms Fatma Samba Samoura at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 4:30pm from the Fifa headquarters in Switzerland.

They were well-recieved by NFF President Amaju Pinnick, members of the NFF board, visiting FA presidents and a host of other prominent football personalities.

Following his arrival on Sunday, the Fifa boss and his secretary general Samoura will be accomodated at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Infantino and Ms Samoura will pay a courtesy call on President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in company of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung and NFF president Pinnick.

They will be accompanied by some visiting presidents of some football associations in Africa, who are on ground to recieve the Fifa top officials.

Later on Monday, the Fifa officials will be guests at an U13 exhibition football match between FCT and Enugu at the National Stadium, Abuja.

Moments after, both will attend a well-arranged corporate dinner, which will feature top government and football officials at the Transcorp Hilton before his departure.
