Kogi State Governor-Elect, Yahaya Adoza Bello, has set his ambition on reviving the values and potentials of the state while lamenting its 24 years of stagnancy since creation.

Bello disclosed this when addressing the newly inaugurated members of the transition committee, urging them to ensure a smooth take-off for the new administration on January 27, 2016.

He told members of the committee led by Alhaji Isah Shaibu, that Kogi State, which was created over two decades ago has landmark experiences from which the committee should consider in the discharge of its duties.

According to him, “Kogi State is endowed with abundant natural and human resources, which places it at an advantage, in addition to being in proximity to the Federal Capital Territory. With the presence of Obajana Cement Factory, Ajaokuta Steel Company as well as Itakpe Iron Ore, our state could not have been asking for more as far as industrial and economic aspirations are concerned.

“All these natural endowments ordinarily should place our dear state among the top five in the federation.”

He said it was sad the reverse had been the case due to leadership gap over the years.

The governor-elect said he expects the committee to work diligently in order to come up with solid framework that will enable the new administration take-off effectively.

“You will need to think outside the box by coming up with workable and realistic plans for the smooth take-off of the incoming administration bearing in mind the economic realities of today,” he further said.
