Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello has assured all residents of the State of the readiness of his administration to sustain the current security efforts to make the State safe for all.

The Governor who stated this through his Director of Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, said the State was a “deep gulf of insecurity” in the past few years until his administration stepped in to restore normalcy.

“Those who are alleging threat to their lives are playing the ostrich. They thought Kogi is still the way they left it. They are running when no one is chasing them. Blackmail will never shield them from justice. They must account for why our State was so much in shambles.

“Wada lost the election due to his poor performance, neglect to people’s welfare and unprecedented promotion of poverty and impunity under his watch. He is being threatened by his grandiose misdemeanor and failure while in office.

“The All Progressives Congress didn’t win the governorship poll in Kogi State by accident. We set the tone right from the Presidential and National Assembly polls. Our party was the party of choice and I am sure none of our leaders would want to pull down someone that was already down.

“The challenges we are battling with in Kogi State today were the creation of paranoid sleaze by the previous administrations in the State. And when we decided to ask questions, they are scampering from one court to another to stop us from asking questions.

“He went to court to stop the probe. He didn’t go to court to sue anyone on the alleged threat to his life. Logically, we know why he is running.

“The people of Kogi State have made their choice and it is left for me as the Governor of Kogi State to justify and reward their choice”.

Governor Bello said his government has confidence in the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to treat everyone fairly, insisting that his administration will not witch-hunt anyone.

“We have set out to build a new Kogi State where citizens will have the opportunity to aspire to greatness. Our task is monumental but our will to make Kogi a better place is unbeatable. What we met was a rotten system, basterdized to serve a chosen establishment. It might take time, but our resolve is irreversible”.

He urged the people of the state to continue to have confidence in his administration’s capacity to move the State forward, assuring them that his administration will not be intimidated by past leaders who threw the State into darkness and underdevelopment.

“My administration shall have tremendous respect and sense of responsibility to the office of the citizens. It is the highest office. If past leaders were accountable, we wouldn’t have to going through what we are passing through right now.

“The people of Kogi State have been at the receiving end of the maladministration of the part. It is time to tell them how their resources were used rather than embark on blackmail and illogical propaganda. We shall soon publish the report of our Staff Verification Exercise and the whole world will see why it took this long to right the wrongs of many decades in the civil service. No genuine worker will be retrenched but we have to make our payrolls credible”.

He thanked the people for believing in his New Direction Agenda, assuring them that the blueprint will ensure development in the State.
