Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has sacked his entire cabinet.
The sack was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Etekamba Umoren at the weekend.
Udom directed that the sacked commissioners should hand over to the permanent secretaries in the various ministries.
The governor thanked the commissioners for their contributions towards the development of the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.
While the decision will be seen as a right step in the right direction following the redundancy of some of the commissioners, others believe that the dissolution was primarily targeted at immediate past governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio’s men.
Our correspondent reports that that there had been a cold war in the State Executive Council between commissioners nominated by Akpabio and those selected by the current governor.
The development, it was learnt, was responsible for the redundancy of the Akpabio’s men as their offices were inadequately funded.
