Ibadan Soccer Talent Hunt League Gets September 20th Date

The kick off of First Edition of Ibadan Soccer Talent Hunt League has been fixed on September 20th, 2013.

While announcing the date for the 10- day championship, the chairman of the Technical Committee Coach Aboma Prest said that the competition is strictly for local teams in the ancient city of Ibadan adding that only players under the age 20 will be accepted.

“Any player above the age of 20 years is not qualified to take part in the Championship/League”

“We intend to be strict with the issue of age. We want to stop the embarrassment Nigeria is facing in international sporting arena in which Nigeria has received serious accusation of age cheating.”

Coach Prest reiterated further that football is the highpoint of sports in Nigeria and it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that we get it right on football.

Coach Prest further revealed that Oluyole Referees Society (ORS) has been consulted to take charge of the technical details of the championship/league stating that MOU has already been signed with ORS.

In a chat with the media, Prince Tunde Lana, who is the representative of ORS, confirmed the understanding of his society and the organisers of the championship saying that no stone will be left unturned in order to ensure that the football development project that will tap local talents is a success.

“This talent hunt will give rise to a league of five strong teams. The accompanying League which is the second phase of the project will run for not less than eight weeks in four venues in Ibadan” he said.
