Japan donates 342 tons of food to school pupils in Congo

Japan has donated 342 tons of food to Congo to feed primary school pupils in the Plateaux (centre), Cuvette (north), as well as Pool and Lékoumou (south) regions, the Ministry of Primary, Secondary and Literacy announced in a statement here Thursday.

It said Japanese Ambassador to Congo Yoshimasa Tominaga made the donation, worth US$2.5 million.

According to the Japanese diplomat, the donation is aimed at improving the quality of primary and secondary education, which is regarded as indispensable for the sustainable development of any society.

“I want all pupils to be healthy by having a balanced diet,” the Ambassador was quoted to have said.
