Jerry Gana urges Nigerians to invest in human transformation

Former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana on Friday urged governments and individuals to approach community development from the perspective of human development and transformation through education.

Gana made the call at the ground-breaking ceremony of the newly established Evergreen University, Etutekpe in Olamaboro Local Government of Kogi founded by a Christian mission, God’s Care Mission Incorporated, Okpo.

The former minister noted: “Transformation of human beings through education is a worthy and noble investment”, he said, adding that once the people were transformed through education, they would transform the land.

Gana who was chairman of the ground-breaking ceremony prayed for the growth and expansion of the Evergreen University and for its emergence as centre of excellence to be known not only in Nigeria but the world over.

The visionary and founder of the mission, Evang. Sunday Ogwuche speaking earlier, said the university which is to commence soon, would start with seven faculties including Arts, Social and Management Sciences.

Others, according to him, are Natural and applied Sciences, Education, Law, Environmental sciences, Engineering and technology and College of Health Sciences.

Ogwuche said that the institution was likely to gulp over N2 billion spread in the actualization of the three phases of its development project adding that full activities would commence with the procurement of license from the National University Commission (NUC).
Also speaking at the occasion, the Attah Igala and President, Kogi State Council of traditional Rulers, Michael Ameh-Oboni II commended Ogwuche for the vision and urged the state government and people of the state to give him necessary support and encouragement.

The state governor, Capt. Idris Wada represented by the Commissioner of Education, Dr Agnes Okai urged other individuals to contribute their quota to the present administration’s efforts to transform take the state to higher heights. (NAN)
