Kidnapped Federal Poly Idah rector, excapes by accident

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Mathew AKpata, who was kidnapped by gunmen at about 9 pm Monday night has regained freedom after escaping by accident.

SavidNews gathered that Akpata was abducted by the hoodlums who stormed his residence at the Polytechnic Quarters, Idah after scaling the security fence.

SavidNews scooped that the abductors bound the rector hands and feet and put him in the booth of his wife’s car and zoomed off before his wife could call for help.

The suspected kidnappers ran out of luck when in the haste to escape with their catch, lost control of the car, smashed into the road divider on the dual carriage way and somersaulted.

The car according to a source very close to the rector had somersaulted three times across the road before the polytechnic second gate near the United Evangelical Church (UEC), Okenya branch in Idah.

The bewildered villagers who ran to the scene of the crash said in spite of the injury sustained by the abductors, they escaped and abandoned their victim in the booth of the car.

The villagers who were attracted to the booth of the car by the rector’s scream opened it to see the helpless rector though unhurt, took him out and untied him.

Akpata, an eye-witness said, narrated his story and was taken to Okenya police station from where he was later taken to the hospital for check up.

Mr Emeka Ene Kogi Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) could not be reached for confirmation as none of his telephones could get through.
