Chairman of the council, Comrade Ali Atabo at a press briefing in Lokoja said the union commended the state government for taken the responsibility of paying WAEC fees for the indigenous students in the state over the years, but the circumstance that led to the stoppage of the payment of the fees must be investigated and those behind it be brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.

He stressed that it is not enough to say that people have committed a fraud or a fraud has been discovered but the government should go further to expose those behind the dastardly act.

The visibly angry chairman of the union described un-acceptable the alarming rate in which some group of people have turned the state treasury to their personal pockets and be looting it to the advantage of their family and cronies why the government developmental policies that supposed to better the lot of the populace suffers.

He threatened that if a decisive action is not taken against some of the officials at the state ministry of education that were involved in the scam, the union may take the protest to court of law.

Mean-while, the Executive Secretary of Centre for Human Right and Conflict Resolution, CHRCR, a human right group based in Lokoja, Mr. Idris Miliki Abdul in his opinion has said the issue of refusal to pay WAEC fees by Governor Wada is a sign that his administration has failed woefully.

The Government has no free education program, the payment of the fee which he inherited from the past government in the state would have encourage many families to enroll their wards in school who would later feed the civil service for the development of the State.

The Governor should have relieved some of the retinue of aides that are loitering around with no Job to do but are milking the State so that the money saved would have been used to offset the WAEC fees.

“As we talk many of the Government officials are looting left, right and center. It shows that the Government has failed.

The reason of corrupt Government officials sabotaging the program advanced by Government is flimsy because the same Government should have investigated to fish out the culprits that have been inflating the so as to bring them to justice. The Government is not sincere.” He stated.
