Kogi Residents lament over incessant power outage

Residents of Kogi state capital, Lokoja, have lamented on the continuous power failure currently ravaging the city.

Some of the electricity consumers have deeply expressed their concern on the inconsistent power supply.

Miss Hellen Eneche, a stylist, who depends on electricity to make a living exclaimed that, lack of power supply had made her to lose most of her customers as her generating set recently packed off.

She called on the relevant authorities to intervene.

Another consumer, Mr Mohammed Jimoh, a welder, complained bitterly on how the current power outage has really affected his business, as he has not been able to do any meaningful work for past few days.

He enjoined the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to expedite action in restoring electricity for consumers to have value for their money.

A business woman, who sells frozen foods, Mrs Esther Adeoti said “I am afraid I might run at loss because of the huge amount that I am currently spending on diesel to keep my products frozen.”

She urged the electricity distributors to do their best to put an end to epileptic power supply in the state.

Mr Bolaji Asaolu, a civil servant said “Lack of electricity has also affected the supply of water to the residents of the capital city, which has had adverse effect on the wellbeing of the people”

He implored the Governor, Idris Wada to urge the management of AEDC to improve on the supply of electricity to the public.

SavidNews recalls that the State House of Assembly recently issued a resolution directing the House Committee on Special Duties to interact with the management of Power Distribution Company and other stakeholders on estimated monthly bills of electricity consumers.

When the Distribution Manager of AEDC in Lokoja was visited for comment, He said “I am not in the position to make any statement on electricity supply, please contact the Branch Manager.”

Meanwhile, the BM was on leave as of the time of filing this report.
