Kogi speaker, Kolawole charges Kogi Youths to shun thuggery, hooliganism

The Honourable Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Kabba-Bunu State Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Prince) M.O. Kolawole has charged Kogi State youths to shun thuggery, hooliganism and other social vices that may be detrimental to the fulfilment of their dreams.

The Speaker disclosed this at the Kogi State House of Assembly complex on Wednesday when the Executive members of the State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) paid him a courtesy call to felicitate with and congratulate him on his emergence as the twelfth Speaker of Kogi Red Hallowed Chamber.

According to him, youth as the leaders of the tomorrow need to be focused and work hard in realising their desired dreams and aspirations in life, stressing that whatever he might have achieved today was a product of hard work and determination.

He enjoined them to take their education seriously and for those who could not acquire western education, he advised them to acquire skills that would make them self-reliant and at the end contribute meaningfully to the overall development of the state.

He appealed to them to cooperate and support the current administration led by Governor Yahaya Bello in moving the state forward, urging them not to be veritable tools of destruction in the hands of self-centred politicians who are fond of inflicting the ‘use and dump syndrome’ on the youths.

He advised the Youth Council to organise periodic programmes like workshops, seminars and conferences to sensitize the youths toward meaningful ventures in the state, urging the current leadership of the council not to misuse the opportunity given to them to serve.

He promised on behalf of the sixth Assembly to work with the Council in bringing up motions and bills that are gear towards empowering the youths in purposeful engagements.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the Council, Comrade Oladele John Nihi said they were in the Assembly complex to felicitate with and congratulate the Speaker over his recent elevation to the position of speakership and to also familiarise with the new leadership of the sixth Assembly.

He pledged loyalty and support of over one million, eight hundred thousand youths in the state to the sixth Assembly, assuring the Speaker of their total and absolute support.
