As preparations for Kogi State governorship election gathers momentum, a socio- political pressure group operating under the aegis of Ugbonicha Word Vanguard on Tuesday rallied support for Prince Abubakar Audu the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos.
Speaking at the political rally, the national coordinator of the group, Chief Abubakar Agene said the urgent need to rescue the state from underdevelopment and promote good governance informed their gathering.
Agene pointed out that good governance that will engender dividends of democracy for residents in the state has been elusive.
According to him, the antecedent of Audu is worthy of note saying since he left office in 2003, the state has lost people oriented programmes.
He said, “There are no more good roads as all the roads that were constructed by Prince Abubakar Audu’s administration were not maintained, all our roads in Kogi State have become death traps for the people of the state and Nigerians who are traveling on the roads to other parts of the country.
“In education, it is on record and worthy of note that Prince Abubakar Audu established the State University at Anyigba in Dekina local government of the state, that University has produced professionals like lawyers, medical doctors, architects to mention but a few.”
