Lagos Dedicate Phone Lines on Noise Poliution

Lagos State Government has implored Lagosians to notify the state government whenever they notice environmental nuisances in their streets, neighbourhood and highways on some dedicated numbers.

The Permanent Secretary, office of Environmental Services,Engr. Hakeem Ogunbambi stated this at the weekend, emphasizing that the present administration has resolved to intensify its efforts in ridding the state of environmental nuisance and attain a cleaner and sustainable environment in the state by dedicating these numbers.

The dedicated numbers which would only receive short messages are 08023130930, 08020521462 and 08056145481 for Drainage Matters and for Environment Matters are 08023241836.08151567909 and 08052440521.

Ogunbambi said, “the State Government in a bid to uplift the aesthetic of the state, has embarked on various beautification projects across the state which involves the planting of trees as well as establishment of gardens and parks which has won the state many awards locally and internationally”.

He said “As a government that wants the best for its citizenry we will not rest on our oars in sanitizing the state until is free of dirt’s”

Engr. Ogunbambi listed the environmental nuisances as follows; Spreading of clothes on streets/highways; Over grown weeds and loose refuse in front of buildings; Derailed slabs/drainage alignment; Storage of trading items within beautified/landscaped sites; Tampering with railings of beautified/landscaped sites; used tyres on highways; Parked /Abandoned vehicles on setbacks of streets highways; Dumping of refuse of any kind on the highways with pure water sachets, table water bottles; Fallen poles on highways;Vulcanizers on the highways; Mechanic workshops on the setback of streets and highways;structures built on drainage alignment/channels/canal; Dead bodies/animals on highways etc.

He therefore urged entire Lagos residents to join hands with this administration vision of zero tolerance to environmental nuisance in the state.
