Lagos Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Cup kicks off on Sunday

Lagos Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) football tournament kicks off on Sunday July 25, 2015 at the Fifa Goal Project turf at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The competition organized to foster unity among sports writers in Lagos state promises to be exciting as 17 media outfits go neck to neck for the ultimate prize.

The major highlight of the opening formality will see Lagos SWAN legends slug it out with former Nigeria internationals to be handled by former Flying Eagles handler, Tunde Disu (MFR).

“The opening ceremony promises to be exciting as we are set to have a successful event,” Sola Rogers who is the secretary of the LOC told Goal.

“Last year, Nollywood stars were invited but this year, we have decided to bring on Nigeria ex-internationals against our legends and it promises to be action packed.

“We have confirmation from 18 former national team players who have promised to show up and kudos must be given to Tunde Disu who is the brain behind this,” he concluded.

On Wednesday, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Alhassan Yakmut will deliver a paper will be on Funding Sports in Nigeria, while the NFF president Amaju Pinnick will speak on Globalizing Nigerian sports: A challenge for the Nigerian media.
