Mabo, Opodu Charges Falcons to Avenge 2-0 Loss to Japan

Super Falcons coach, Ismaila Mabo has hailed players of the current squad in spite of their 2-0 loss to Japan in Sunday’s first leg of their two-legged friendly.

Looking ahead of the 2nd leg billed for the 26th of this month, Mabo stated that he expects the girls to have overcome their stage fright against their hosts and do better.

“I think the coach and the players should put away their loss to Japan and go back to the drawing board to rectify the mistakes they have been able to identify so that they can face Japan squarely in the 2nd match and am sure they will do better”

Yuki Ogimi opened scoring late in the first half to draw first blood before Nahomi Kawasumi added a second to cap an all round performance for the home team.

Along the same line, another ex-coach of the team, Sam Opodu says he expects the technical crew of the team to make evaluations and adjustments ahead of the 2nd leg so that the side can win and even get the aggregate result and thereby have it stand at 1-1.

“I am hoping that one of the good things that a good coach will do is to take a good example from the previous game to see what he right and wrong in order to capitalize also on the weakness of his opponent and I hope the technical crew will do this before the next game” he said in a chat with Brila FM

The second game will take place at Chiba’s Fukada Denshi Arena on Thursday to complete the series, one in which the Nigeria side will want to make even.
