The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) is threatening to expose alleged immoralities committed by its former leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike.
In a text message on Tuesday, December 15, from Comrade Ibem Ugwuoke Ibem, the national secretary of MASSOB, the group now led by Comrade Uchenna Madu has vowed to expose all the ‘sins’ allegedly committed by Uwazuruike, Daily Post reports.
According to Ibem, Madu has never collected any money from the federal government.
He explained that Uwazuruike and Madu both spent two years in DSS detention, Suleja and Keffi prisons from 2005 to 2007. Uwazuruike was released while Madu spent another two years before his own release.
The text message read: “As the most closest officer to former leader & image maker, He has vowed to expose all Uwazuruike’s dealings with Nigeria Govt under Jonathan, Ezu River case, The death of Chief Innocent Ogbuehi (former Umuahia MASSOB leader), Immoralities with Married / female students of Owerri etc.
“MASSOB under Uchenna Madu will continue in non-violence agitation with other genuine pro Biafra groups. IPOB should not allow drowning man like Uwazuruike and his astrayed BIM to deceive them.”
Recall that on November 30, MASSOB expelled Uwazuruike as its leader at a ceremony attended by national officers including the zonal and regional administrators of the group. They inaugurated a new leadership, making its former national director of information, Uchenna Madu the new leader while Ugwuoke Ibem Ugwuoke was made the national secretary.
Since then it has been a battle of words between the new and former leaders.
Uwazuruike who insisted that his “rumoured” expulsion was invalid had on December 6, said the name of MASSOB had been changed to Biafra Independent Movement (BIM).
Following the name change, the Uchenna Madu-led MASSOB stated that its Uwazuruike is being investigated for fraudulent acts and that the MASSOB is not part of BIM.
