National Sports Commission pledges support for Diplomatic Sports Championship

Sports Minister, Tammy Danagogo, has pledged the National Sports Commission’s unflinching support for the success of the maiden edition of the Diplomatic Sports Tournament.

Danagogo made the pledge in Abuja when a delegation of the Organising Committee for the Diplomatic Sports paid him a courtesy visit in his office, promising that NSC would do everything possible to ensure that the initiative and the event itself were successful.

The event which is slated to hold from October 20- 25 at the Abuja National Stadium, will have trophies, medals and other prizes to be competed for in events which include Football, Golf, Table Tennis, Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball, Boxing, Tug of War, Swimming, Cycling, Snooker, Billiards, Chess, Monopoly, Draughts and Scrabble.

“Sports development is not for the NSC alone, everybody has a stake and the duty to ensure that we partake in, organise and sponsor sporting events” the Minister stated.

“I assure you that the ministry will do everything possible to ensure that the initiative and the event itself is a success

“This is because we try to encourage and support every group and organization that tends to develop sports

“We will support you with the relevant human and material resources to ensure that your first outing is a monumental success,’’ Danagogo concluded.

Chairman of the organizing Commitee, Moses Essien, in his speech said that the objective of the Diplomatic Sports included strengthening Nigeria’s existing cordial relationship with the global community through Diplomatic missions.

109 resident Diplomatic Missions and all international organizations were accredited to Nigeria would participate in the maiden Diplomatic Sports Tournament.
