Nigeria rise up to 41st in March Fifa World ranking

Nigeria have moved up to the 41st position in the latest Fifa global rankings released on Thursday.

The Super Eagles were ranked 42nd in the last Fifa rankings despite their absence at the Africa Cup of Nations staged in Equatorial Guinea.

The Eagles remain the seventh ranked African side behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia, Cape Verde Island and Senegal.

Germany occupy the first position on the Fifa /Coca-Cola World Ranking with Argentina and Colombia third and fourth respectively.

The biggest climbers of the month are Barbados (131st) and Bermuda (169th), both of whom have risen by 11 places by virtue of a win and a draw each.

Spain for the first time in many year are nowhere to be found in the top ten having been ranked 11th with 1130 points.

Algeria continue to be the top-ranked African side and are 18th in the world. Cote d’Ivoire are in 20th position in the world and second in Africa. They are followed by Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Cape Verde Island, Nigeria, Guinea, Congo DR and Cameroon.

The next world ranking will be published on April 9, 2015.
