Three Nigerian referees escaped death in Lokoja on Saturday night following a fire outbreak that destroyed a three-star Hilltop Hotel located in the heart of the Kogi state capital.

Kano’s Ahmed Yakubu and Kaduna duo of AA. Ibrahim and AG. Yusuf were match officials appointed for the Nigeria Professional Football League Week 37 clash between Niger Tornadoes and MFM FC billed for Sunday.

Aside the referees who were rescued hale and hearty, SavidNews learnt no live was lost in the incident except for valuables worth millions of naira that were destroyed.
