Busari invites 25 Flamingos to Abuja camp for World Cup preparations
Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, are set to begin their final preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with head coach Hakeem Busari inviting 25 players for the first phase of camping in Abuja.
The young Nigerian side will be hoping to make another strong impression on the global stage when Morocco hosts the tournament from October 17 to November 7.
Busari’s squad secured their place at the World Cup after overcoming Benin Republic home and away in the final round of the African qualifiers, continuing Nigeria’s impressive record in the competition.
Since the tournament was introduced in 2008, Nigeria have missed just one edition, the 2018 finals in Uruguay, highlighting the Flamingos’ remarkable consistency at this level.
The invited players have been directed to report to the Serob Legacy Hotel in Wuye, Abuja, on Sunday, August 30, as the technical crew begins the process of shaping the team ahead of the global tournament.
The 25-player squad comprises three goalkeepers, eight defenders, eight midfielders and six forwards.

Ifesinachi Iloh (Solo Wonders), Mercy Felix (Obosa FA), Precious John (Pelican Stars).
Defenders:
Elizabeth Adesuyi (Pacesetter Queens), Esther Stephen (Unification Ladies), Chidera Oparanmegwa (Bayelsa Queens), Azeezat Oduntan (Robo Queens), Opeyemi Sunday (Nasarawa Amazons), Omelogu Precious (Tophat SC), Christiana Ogunbunmi (Soccer Talent FC), Taiwo Abdulazeez (Dannaz Ladies).
Midfielders:
Kaosarat Akanji (Dreamstar Ladies), Awawu Bashiru (Confluence Queens), Mary Dustan (Bayelsa Queens), Muinat Rotimi (Nakamura FA), Kate Laniran (Espora Queens), Annabelle Olubajo (Savannah United), Grace Akingboye (Ghetto Tigers), Eniola Abdulquadri (Unstoppable FA).
Forwards:
Adebimpe Kashimawo (Asisat Oshoala FA), Harmony Chidi (Bayelsa Queens), Mmesoma Uchendu (Ibom Angels), Istifanus Shavi (Youth Arise FA), Shakirat Sarafa (Remo Stars Ladies), Chisom Chukwuemeka (Diamond Stars).
With the countdown to Morocco already underway, the Abuja camp represents the first major step in Busari’s plans to build a competitive Flamingos squad capable of flying Nigeria’s flag high at the World Cup.
