Durosinmi Meseko clears screening, emerges APC consensus candidate ahead of Convention

Hon. Durosinmi Meseko has received a major boost in his bid to return to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), successfully scaling the party’s screening process ahead of its forthcoming National Convention.

Meseko, who currently serves as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, emerged unopposed in the race—effectively positioning him as the consensus candidate for the role. His emergence follows what party insiders describe as broad-based support from key stakeholders within both the Kogi State chapter and the national leadership of the APC.

In a statement released after the screening, Meseko expressed deep appreciation to prominent figures who played instrumental roles in his emergence. He singled out Ahmed Usman Ododo for fostering unity within the state chapter, as well as James Abiodun Faleke for his mentorship and strategic guidance. He also commended party stakeholders for granting him a “right of first refusal,” which paved the way for his unopposed candidacy.

Describing the seamless screening process as a reflection of internal cohesion within the APC, Meseko noted that the absence of opposition should not breed complacency. Instead, he said it places a greater responsibility on him to deliver.

“The trust reposed in me by our leaders and the rank and file of our great party is a debt I intend to pay through tireless service, innovative communication strategies, and unwavering loyalty to the APC vision,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Meseko pledged to strengthen the party’s communication framework by enhancing its presence across digital and traditional platforms. He also emphasized the need to bridge the gap between the NWC and grassroots structures, while committing to proactively defend the administration’s policies with clarity and facts.

With his path now largely clear, Meseko is expected to be formally ratified at the APC National Convention, where he is poised to play a central role in shaping the party’s messaging and public engagement strategy in the lead-up to the next political cycle.
