Favour Ofili storms to season's best, claims bronze at Lone Star Grand Prix

Nigerian sprint sensation Favour Ofili continued her impressive start to the 2026 season with a season best performance of 22.15 seconds to finish third in the women's 200 metres at the Lone Star Grand Prix on Sunday.

The 22 year old, competing in only her second 200m race of the year, displayed significant improvement from her season opener as she powered to a podium finish against a highly competitive international field.

Ofili's time of 22.15 seconds not only secured her a bronze medal but also highlighted her growing form as she builds momentum ahead of the year's major championships.

Olympic champion Gabby Thomas delivered a commanding performance to win the race in a world leading 21.70 seconds, while fellow American Kayla White finished second in 22.07 seconds.

For Ofili, the result marks another encouraging step in her preparations for the international season, reinforcing her status as one of Nigeria's brightest sprint prospects.

The podium finish is expected to provide a significant confidence boost as she gears up for upcoming Diamond League meetings and other major global competitions later this year. With her performances trending upward, Ofili appears well-positioned to challenge some of the world's elite sprinters in the months ahead.
