Favy makes history as first-ever MasterChef Nigeria winner
Favour Bessan, widely known as Favy, has been crowned the inaugural winner of MasterChef Nigeria, securing the coveted title and a grand prize of ₦73 million after an exciting 13-week culinary competition.
The 26-year-old emerged victorious over fellow finalist Fads during the grand finale, where both contestants were tasked with creating a three-course menu that showcased their unique culinary style and identity.
Favy won over judges Chef Stone and Chef Eros with a combination of creativity, technical excellence, presentation, and compelling storytelling. Her standout menu featured smoked salmon with potato mash alongside roasted bell pepper soup as the starter, setting the tone for her winning performance.
Throughout the competition, Favy consistently impressed with her resilience, innovation, and ability to deliver under pressure. She also etched her name in the show's history by becoming the first contestant to earn the MasterChef Nigeria Immunity Pin, a strategic advantage that helped propel her into the semi-finals before she ultimately claimed the championship.
Premiering earlier this year, MasterChef Nigeria is the country's first local adaptation of the globally renowned cooking competition. The debut season concluded with one of the largest cash prizes ever awarded on a Nigerian reality television show, marking a milestone for the nation's entertainment and culinary industries.
