Kwara Chess Association boosts grassroots development with school equipment donation

 

 

The Kwara State Chess Association has distributed chess boards and related materials to selected schools across the state as part of efforts to encourage the growth of chess among young people.

 

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, called on beneficiary schools to make proper and effective use of the materials provided. He also praised the donor, Alhaji Bolaji Nagode, alongside the Kwara State Chess Association, for their dedication to advancing chess development in the state.

 

Coach Mogaji further announced a donation of two hundred thousand naira to support the organization of chess competitions among primary and secondary schools, aimed at strengthening interest and participation in the sport.

 

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kwara State Chess Association and Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Honourable Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, described the initiative as the beginning of greater progress for chess development in Kwara State.

 

He added that the association would continue to monitor activities in the beneficiary schools through regular workshops and competitions to ensure sustained growth of the game at the grassroots level.
