NPFL: Doma United fined N5.25m, ordered to play three home matches behind closed doors
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has charged Doma United with multiple breaches of its Framework and Rules following incidents during their match against Kun Khalifat FC on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The Gombe-based club was found to have failed to provide adequate and effective security during the home fixture, allowing unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas.
According to the league, Doma United supporters also engaged in hostile conduct towards match officials and officials of the visiting team, bringing the game into disrepute. The club’s supporters were further accused of gross misconduct towards an away team official after the match.
As a result of the repeated security breaches and other offences, the Savannah Tigers have been handed a total fine of ₦5.25 million and ordered to play their next three home matches behind closed doors.
The breakdown of the sanctions includes a ₦3 million fine for repeated failure to provide adequate and effective security, ₦1 million for the hostile conduct of supporters towards match officials, and another ₦1 million for the gross misconduct involving an official of Kun Khalifat FC.
Doma United were also directed to pay ₦250,000 as compensation for the medical treatment of Kun Khalifat head coach Obinna Uzoho, who sustained an injury during the incident.
In a further disciplinary measure, the match commissioner has been recommended for demotion to a lower league over alleged dereliction of duty, insufficient supervision and inadequate reporting of the match.
The NPFL has warned Doma United to strengthen their security arrangements and educate their supporters on acceptable conduct, cautioning that any future breach of the league’s Framework and Rules could attract more severe sanctions.
The club has 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions.
