Ogochukwu Atube confident of quick return to NWFL

Former Abia Angels assistant coach Ogochukwu Atube is confident she will return to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) in the near future.

Speaking exclusively to Sports 247, the Ika Local Government Area of Delta State native said her extensive experience with several clubs in the domestic league makes her a strong candidate for teams seeking experienced technical personnel.

Atube is currently part of the coaching staff at Flying Sports Academy in FESTAC Town, Lagos, where she is mentoring young male players while remaining active in the game.

Reflecting on her coaching journey, Atube said: “I then joined Flying Sports Academy and worked with them for six years before moving to Goodland Rangers. I handled them from NLO to NNL for two seasons, then started working for clubs in the NWFL. Among the teams that I’ve worked with in the league are Naija Ratels, Abia Angels and Osun Babes.”

Atube previously worked alongside former Super Falcons goalkeeper Ann Agumanu at Abia Angels before deciding to return briefly to grassroots football.

Asked when she expects to return to an NWFL club, the experienced tactician expressed confidence that it would happen soon.

“I believe in God that it will be very soon,” she said.

Atube appeared motivated in her current role, where she continues to develop young players and sharpen her coaching experience.

With her experience across different levels of Nigerian football and previous work with established NWFL clubs, Atube believes she remains ready to contribute whenever the right opportunity comes.

Her return would provide another experienced female coach to the NWFL technical scene as the league continues to focus on professionalism, player development and the growth of women’s football in Nigeria.
