Sanusi hails participants as FIFA Women's Football Administrators' Workshop concludes
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening women's football administration following the successful conclusion of the three-day FIFA Capacity-Building Workshop for Women Football Administrators in Abuja.
Speaking at the closing ceremony on Sunday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON), praised both the participants and FIFA facilitators for their dedication, describing the workshop as a key investment in the future of women's football in Nigeria.
Sanusi explained that the programme, organised in collaboration with FIFA, was designed to equip women with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to drive football administration at every level. He stressed that empowering women to take on governance and decision-making roles remains a major priority for the Federation.
He commended the participants for their commitment throughout the workshop and applauded the facilitators for sharing their expertise.
According to him, the programme goes beyond awarding certificates, as its true success will be measured by how participants apply the knowledge gained to advance women's football across the country. He added that the NFF will continue to support initiatives that promote capacity building and create more opportunities for women within the football ecosystem.
Sanusi also assured participants that the Federation would monitor the implementation of the lessons learned while providing more pathways for women to assume leadership positions. He expressed confidence that the workshop would help produce a new generation of administrators capable of taking women's football in Nigeria to greater heights, both on and off the pitch.
The workshop featured sessions on football governance, competition management, marketing, safeguarding and leadership. Participants, drawn from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), the NFF and other football stakeholders, took part in practical sessions facilitated by FIFA women's football technical experts Thubaelihle Sibanda and Tsholofelo Setlhoko.
Other facilitators included NFF Executive Committee member and FIFA Media Committee member Aisha Falode, Professor Mariam Suleiman of Ahmadu Bello University, retired educationist Dr. Anthonia Uwa, and FIFA-certified safeguarding officer and refereeing instructor Mohammed Ammenu.
The workshop was coordinated by NFF Director of Competitions and FIFA/CAF Match Commissioner, Ruth David.
Also present at the closing ceremony were NFF Director of Media and Communications, Dr. Ademola Olajire, Deputy Head of Member Associations, Alhaji Salisu Abubakar, and club proprietor Alhaji Gandi Bala, as participants rounded off three days of learning aimed at advancing the growth and administration of women's football in Nigeria.
