Togo have stepped up preparations for the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Women’s Cup by inviting 25 players to a final residential training camp ahead of the regional tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Éperviers U-17 women will begin the final phase of their preparations on Friday, September 4, with the camp scheduled to run until September 13 in Lomé.

The 10-day exercise is designed to give head coach Ben Tété Adzakpa and his technical crew the opportunity to fine-tune the team ahead of the competition, which is scheduled to take place from September 15 to 28 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Togo have been drawn in Group B alongside West African rivals Nigeria and Ghana, as well as Niger, setting up a highly competitive group-stage campaign.

The Togolese technical team plans to use the final camp to work extensively on the technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of the game, while also strengthening team cohesion and ensuring the players understand the tactical principles required for the tournament.

Training sessions will be held mainly in Agbodrafo, with the programme also featuring recovery sessions, medical care, video analysis and classroom-based tactical work.

The team are scheduled to play two preparatory matches during the camp. The first is against Entente 2 on Monday, September 7, at 3pm in Agbodrafo, while another friendly is planned against Gbavé on Thursday, September 10, also at 3pm.

The players will also undergo a Laws of the Game session as part of their preparations, while video analysis will form another important component of the camp.

The technical crew have also planned an educational football activity for the squad, with the players expected to watch the CAF Champions League encounter between ASCK and ASEC on September 6 as part of their tactical and analytical development.

With the final camp coming immediately before the tournament, Adzakpa will be expected to use the two friendly matches and intensive tactical sessions to determine his strongest combination before travelling to Côte d’Ivoire.

The assignment will be a major test for the young Togolese side, particularly with Nigeria and Ghana among their Group B opponents.

Nigeria’s Flamingos will also be targeting a strong showing in the tournament as the West African rivals battle for progression from a group that promises to produce some of the competition’s most closely watched matches.

For Togo, however, the immediate priority is to complete preparations, build confidence and arrive in Côte d’Ivoire with a squad capable of competing against the leading youth teams in the WAFU-B zone.

The final residential camp therefore represents the last major opportunity for the Éperviers to sharpen their tactical approach and build the cohesion required before the September 15 kick-off.
