The President of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Seyi Johnson, has pledged to donate electronic appliances to the Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) as part of his commitment to sports development and the welfare of sports journalists.

Johnson said the gesture was in recognition of the significant role sports journalists play in promoting athletes, sporting events, development initiatives and the achievements of persons with disabilities across Nigeria.

According to him, the donation is aimed at supporting the operational needs of Ogun SWAN and creating a more conducive working environment for sports writers to carry out their professional responsibilities.

He also stressed the importance of stronger collaboration among sports administrators, athletes, journalists and other stakeholders in advancing sports development and promoting inclusion within the Nigerian sporting community.

Johnson expressed hope that the gesture would further strengthen the relationship between the Wheelchair Basketball Federation and sports journalists, while encouraging increased attention to wheelchair basketball and other sporting activities involving persons with disabilities.

He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the growth of sports, improve the welfare of sports stakeholders and provide greater visibility for athletes and sporting communities across the country.

In his remarks, Ogun SWAN Chairman, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, commended Johnson for his passion and commitment to the development of sports and the welfare of sports journalists in the state.

Ogunsiji said the gesture would boost the morale of sports journalists in Ogun State, while assuring the federation president of the association’s readiness to partner with him in promoting wheelchair basketball across the country.

He added that members of Ogun SWAN would continue to support initiatives aimed at expanding the visibility and development of sports across Nigeria.
