The second phase of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League continued at Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Lagos with Kano Pillars and Plateau Peacocks bagging victories on Wednesday.
In the women’s category, defending champions Plateau Peacocks crushed Owena Queens 44-11, while leaders Safety Babes survived Kada Queens’ scare, defeating the Kaduna side 30-23.
Desert Queens failed to bounce back from the Tuesday’s loss to Ghana Police as they succumbed to Abia Valiants 37-25 in a dramatic encounter, Seasiders Babes also bowed narrowly to Edo Dynamos, losing 30-27.
Ghana Police build on their 29-14 win over Desert Queens on Tuesday as they pipped Owena Queens 28-20 in an exhibition tie, while Imo Grasshoppers thrashed Defender Babes 25-17.
In the men’s category, Kada Stars had to dig deep to defeat Prison Key Boys 32-28, De Defenders could not consolidate on Tuesday’s win over Sokoto Rima as they lost to defending champions Niger United 32-28.
Owena Kings could not recover from the loss to Niger as they crumbled 34-22 to leaders Kano Pillars, while Safety Shooters extended their winning run with a 28-22 victory over Sokoto Rima.
Hosts Lagos Seasiders failed to earn a back-to-back win as they were held to 28-28 by Borno Spiders, while Plateau Vipers were defeated 28-18 by COAS Shooters.
Dikko Ibrahim of Lagos Seasiders and Dike Ezinne of Imo Grasshoppers were named Most Valuable Players of the day in the men and women’s categories respectively.
